We let our binding.energy conference participants do the talking

Aline des Cloizeaux
Aline des CloizeauxDirector at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
"Thanks for the invitation to speak about IAEA support for SMRs and for fusion technology development and deployment in a holistic approach. All nuclear technologies will be necessary to address world's climate challenges and meet the Sustainable Development Goals."
Prof. Dr. Hamid Aït Abderrahim
Prof. Dr. Hamid Aït AbderrahimDirector at MYRRHA
"Good job. Bringing people from Fusion and Fission to exchanges ideas and concerns and more important hopes to make things moving rapidly in terms of Demonstrators and even FOAK reactors build soon. My recommendation pay attention to your fuel and even more to your fuel cycle. I was pleased to share my experience based on MYRRHA."
Dr. Christophe Bruggeman

Dr. Maria Poetsch

"Thank you for organizing it and for a really incredibly exciting and educational event! 😊 👍 I'm really looking forward to future developments. Who knows how soon the first fusion reactor might be available..."
Giovanni Landi
Giovanni LandiGeneral Manager at Alpha Ring
"This event was of particular interest. It brings together people from the field of nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. And I am very happy to have seen that there is a lot of technical expertise and know-how on this technology in Europe."

“Having worked in nuclear technology for many years, one recognizes the growing need to finally bring the two nuclear fields of fusion and fission together and discuss the benefits and opportunities of both technologies and to learn from each other. It is obvious that this will create fruitful synergies. This is precisely why binding.energy exists, and we welcome you to join us.”

Dr. John Kettler

Founder & Host

Bill Gates Co-chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

"There are companies working on fission and others working on fusion. Fusion is further out. I hope that succeeds. In the long run it is a huge competitor to this TerraPower nuclear fission. Unlike previous reactors, we're not asking the ratepayers in a particular geography to guarantee the costs. And for strategic reasons, the U.S. government is helping with the first-of-the-kind costs."

Ursula von der Leyen President European Commission

“We need to promote more public-private research partnerships… We need to put in place a specific regulatory framework for nuclear fusion. We need to send a clear political signal that this is also a secure investment for private capital.”

[Source: Fusion Industry Association April 11th 2024]

William D. Magwood, IV Director-General, OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA)

“I don’t think there is any technical reason why plants built in western Europe or the United States could not be very close to this 3.000 Dollars per installed kilowatt target. But we have to get proficient at it and that means to build plants and making the mistakes and learning the lessons.”

[Source: atomwirtschaft (atw) Volume 66 (2021)]

Dr. Rafael Mariano Grossi Director General at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

“Fusion energy is increasingly recognized as a solution for both climate change and energy security. Indeed, the world of fusion energy is complex and demands a thorough understanding of all aspects, from R&D to deployment and commercialization. And while progress has been methodical, it is accelerating as technologies mature.”
